Star Trek: Insurrection Moving Trading Card Set
Guarantees One Autographed Card In Every Box
Mt. Laurel, NJ . . . Fleer/SkyBox will release its Star Trek: Insurrectionä
movie trading cards on December 2 1998, one week prior to the film opening
As a bonus to collectors, one hand-signed autographed card will be guaranteed
inside each 36-pack box of the movie trading cards. Patrick Stewart, Jonathan
Frakes, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden and LeVar Burton are
among the stars who have agreed to sign cards. The highly-anticipated
Paramount Pictures motion picture is slated to open at theaters nationwide
on December 11. Star Trek: Insurrectionä is the ninth Star Trekä motion
picture.
"The cast of Star Trek: Insurrectionä has been extremely cooperative,
and I can't say enough good things about them." said Steven Charendoff,
Entertainment Director at Fleer/SkyBox. "Their willingness to sign
autographs and to make this series of cards such a success shows their
commitment to Star Trek fans everywhere. That's why Star Trekä is so great!"
In addition to the excitement of autographed cards, the Star Trek: Insurrectionä
movie card set will consist of 72 basic cards, plus bonus cards. Contrary
to some speculation, this set will not be combined with the highly anticipated
Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 7 series. A set focusing solely
on Season 7 will be released in 1999 so that fans mat complete their collections.
The 72-cards basic card set will feature Plot cards (23), Soundbytes (27),
Character Profiles (13), Alien Races (8), and a checklist. Bonus cards
include Wardrobe (9), revealing behind-the-scenes costume designs; Schematics
(9), featuring pre-production artwork used to create the many new ships
in the movie; Behind-the-Scenes (9), offering insights from set designed
Michael Okuda; Interplay (9), detailing the key relationships among various
characters; Gold cards (7), depicting the starring cast; and, of course,
Autographs (19).
"This collections will offer fans far more than the typical move
card ste," added Charendoff. "We have succeeded in going beyond
just retelling the story. We want fans and collectors to be entertained
in other ways, to learn how and why the moving was made, to get closer
to the actors and the crew. As a result, this promises to be our most
successful and best-selling entertainment card series of the year."
Star Trek: Insurrectionä movie cards will be oversized, consistent with
previous Star Trekä movie card sets. These cards will be available in
9-card packs with a suggested retail price of $1.99 per pack.
